The opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) has set the pace for other parties to follow on the issues of policy by initiating the policy conference which will see the party involve professionals in the making of policies for different sectors to be used once the party gets the mandate to rule Malawians in 2014 through its leader, Atupele Muluzi.

Named the UDF Policy Conference, the conference is being held at Lilongwe’s Crossroads hotel from today, October 31.

Aside attracting professionals and academicians, the conference will also attract politicians from other political parties.

The United Democratic Front was the first party to lead a post-dictatorship Malawi in 1994 and retained the seat in 1999 before being cheated out of government by late Wa Mutharika who formed his own party after being frustrated by the UDF in 2006.
