Mzuzu high court judge, Dingiswayo Madise, has thrown back to Lilongwe an application for a bail hearing by Ralph Kasambara who decided to evade Lilongwe and take the case to Mzuzu.
It is said that Madise has thrown back the application on the grounds of judge-shopping. Reports indicate that Kasambara and Madise are friends and if Madise was to preside over the case then it could have compromised with his professional ethics and integrity.
Kasambara’s lawyers traveled to Mzuzu after their client was told that he was to answer attempted murder charges. He was told this at the Magistrates court and his case was then referred to the High Court.
This means that the former Minister of Justice will spend a fifth night in a police cell having been arrested on Friday.
