The bodyguard to detained former Justice Minister, Ralph Kasambara, is in police custody being interrogated over the Mphwiyo shooting.

According to sources, the bodyguard was picked on Tuesday – a day after the former minister who is also the PP director of legal affairs – was charged with attempted murder. The police have confirmed of the arrest but have declined to give out the reasons for the arrest or why he is being kept at the station.

A source, however, has said that the bullets that were used in the shooting of Paul Mphwiyo have matched those of the gun that was used by the bodyguard the time he was with Kasambara as a minister.

The bodyguard is a police officer and, for now, the police are hiding his identity.

A few days ago, Ralph Kasambara’s wife posted on Facebook that the police were attempting to force her husband’s bodyguard to incriminate her husband. She, minutes later, took down the post.
