Barely a day after announcing that he has defected from the opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to the ruling Peoples’ Party (PP), ex-secretary general of the MCP has been awarded a ministerial post.
Last night the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) annnounced that the President had appointed Chris Daza who was the MCP General Secretary as the new minister in the office of the President responsible for good governance.
The newly established ministry had been established after the reshuffle of the cabinet by President Banda in light of the Capitol Hill looting. The ministry had been given to the late Eunice Kazembe who had died without taking an oath for the office as she had been ill.
The place of the late Kazembe has now been awarded to Daza.
President Banda has also appointed spent force Gwanda Chakuamba and Katola Phiri as special advisers to her on political affairs.
