Embattled minister of Justice, Ralph Kasambara, has had his bail application turned down by the High Court in Lilongwe despite being sick.
Kasambara, who is being held on remand at Zomba maximum security prison, is being accused of attempting to murder Paul Mphwiyo, budget director in the ministry of finance, and he has neither accepted nor deny the charges so far.
Meanwhile, the court has ordered that Kasambara remain in custody for thirty more days pending investigations into the charges and it has ordered the police to be through with the investigations over that time.
Kasambara, in ill-health now, was the PP’s director of legal affairs before being suspended by the party as the party was afraid that he would drag it into the mud with him.
