Months after failing to hook the seat of the 2014 Presidential candidacy for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Speaker Chimunthu Banda has announced that he will be quitting frontline politics.
According to reports, Chimunthu Banda has disclosed that he will not be contesting in any election in the 2014 tripartite elections and instead he will be devoting his time to farming, writing and pursuing his doctoral degree.
He becomes the second seasoned politician this year alone to quit frontline politics after frustrations from Party convention. The first one was John Zenus Ungapake Tembo of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
Chimunthu Banda has, however, disclosed that his constituents are pressurizing him not to quit but he still has made up his mind.
