The Lake of Stars festival for 2014 is scheduled to take place from the 26th of September 2014 to the 28th of September 2014. The venue will be announced early 2014.
The festival takes place over three days, set on the palm fringed shores of one of Africa’s largest lakes and featuring artists from Malawi, Africa and the rest of the world.
So far, only Peter Mawanga and Skeffa Chimoto have been confirmed as performers and we expect many more artists to be confirmed.

Lake of Stars 2014: Call for artists
Artists have the opportunity to perform on state of the art equipment in front of international media at Lake of Stars, a project with a media reach of 200 million. We massively appreciate the effort that artists make to perform at the festival. The event generates over U$D1 million for the Malawian economy and you are part of that process. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Please be aware that Lake of Stars can unfortunately only cover a few international headline acts’ expenses and the majority of artists from outside of Malawi perform for free. For most acts outside of Malawi we cannot cover travel costs but may be able to offer free accommodation or camping for the weekend, guest list allocation and catering on the day of your performance.
There are a number of organisations that help with artist travelling to events such as ours such as www.artmovesafrica.org and www.hivos.org
You have until Monday 3rd March to submit your application. Once your form is submitted we will endeavour to respond to you by the end of March.
If you are a non-Malawian act and are successful in your application you have until Friday 25th April to send us confirmation of your travel plans to Malawi. Once we have confirmed this information we will add you to the festival line-up and our marketing activity.

Lake of Stars 2014: Call for Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers for a range of activities to aid production of the festival including stewards, runners, stage managers, artist liaison crew and photographers.
Festival volunteers must be available from Wednesday 24th to Monday 29th September 2014.
