Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Malawi, Dr. Emmanuel Fabiano, who sat at the helm of the University at the time of the Academic freedom struggle has finally come out to declare that his handling of the academic freedom struggle had strings attached to it just as those of the person at the other end, Jessie Kabwila.
Reports indicate that Fabiano has just won the primary elections in a constituency in Chiradzulu district on the ticket of the former ruling party which was accused of infringing on academic freedom after the police IG then had summoned a lecturer after giving what was considered as an example that could incite violence.
Fabiano was removed from his post as Vice Chancellor this December.
