President Banda today met the clergy in Mangochi at the presidential Chikoko bay over the pork scandal which saw muslims in the district running riot in the district over the selling of pork in the district declaring it was illegal.

The event did not only attract muslims but as well attracted the christian clergy in the district and was meant at fostering the way ahead in light of the saga which as well saw a magistrate giving out a weird decision on the issue which was heavily criticized by some quarters of the society.

At the meeting, President Banda emphasized on the need for unity as well as respect for each others’ beliefs and religious values. Cautiously, President Banda lambasted the Mangochi muslims for taking the law into their own hands in attempting to push out pork from Mangochi district claiming it might invite retaliation from other quarters.
