Controversial and outspoken veteran politician, Kamlepo Kalua, slapped the Peoples’ Party (PP) deputy spokesperson, Kenneth Msonda, and ex-broadcaster, Saulos Thindwa, in the party’s primary elections for the constituency of Rumphi North East.

Kalua, who has struggled to get to parliament despite being one of the people who challenged the autocratic government of late Hastings Kamuzu Banda, defected from his own party earlier this year and joined the PP with an aim to serve the ‘amayi’ government.

Meanwhile, it is not known how the others will react to the defeat especially Kenneth Msonda who, speaking to a local radio station some days back, said that he had been approached by the people of his constituency to represent them yet they are the ones who have let Kalua slap him in the face.
