Days after being moved into the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), ex-budget director Paul Mphwiyo is set to leave Malawi despite him being a person who has much information on the Cashgate scandal.
Reports that FaceofMalawi has indicate that Paul Mphwiyo has applied for a three-year sabbatical leave of which he intends to spend it in the United States of America.
One of the reasons for his application of that leave being the issue of his security.
The reports further indicate that Mphwiyo’s application is just awaiting an endorsement from the Chief Secretary to the OPC, Hawa Ndilowe, who is most likely to issue it this coming January.
Paul Mphwiyo, a recent Malawian celebrity, was shot at on September 13 as he was making his way into his Area 43 residence in what President Joyce Banda alleged was an attempt at silencing him, Mphwiyo.
However, critics have said that Mphwiyo himself deserves to be investigated over the Capital hill looting fondly called the Cashgate scandal which emerged soon after his shooting.
