Minister of tourism, Moses Kunkuyu, whose campaign trail in Dedza south saw the loss of one life and a chase of him by some angry residents in the constituency has sailed through in the primaries of the Peoples’ Party in Dedza South Constituency which, since time immemorial, has been held by the former Malawi Congress Party president, John Tembo.
Kunkuyu, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament for Blantyre city south, has however been accused by other quarters of rigging. According to a source there, the whole process of voting was not normal.
“Just imagine, Kunkuyu got over ten thousand votes while the voters did not even reach a thousand,” complained one individual.
In a related development, Clement Stambuli – a former Minister of Information – has as well sailed through the Primary elections on a PP ticket in Nkhotakota Central while in Dowa, an incumbent and musician Bauleni Mmana has had a rude awakening after being denied by his party supporters through his loss of the primaries.
