Government announced a total switch of the once suspended Integrated Financial Management system –IFMS –following the submission of user names in government departments.

The Ministry of finance attributed the delay in IFMS resumption to the snail’s pace that these government departments were taking to submit user names.

Speaking in an interview, Ministry of Finance’s spokesperson Nations Msowoya said the exercise was finalized mid December and the system is fully on operation.

“Yes we have managed to finalize the process of collecting user names from all government departments and now we can safely say the system has resumed in total.” Msowoya said

Ministry of finance had earlier said ministries and government department were making delays in submitting these names thereby creating unnecessary delays in the resumption of the system.

Msowoya pointed out that due to this problem, the ministry experienced some problems in preparing monthly salaries in the past months.

Meanwhile, the ministry of finance’s spokesperson said all what remain is to employ an expert to be monitoring the system and this process is supposed to be implemented by end January.

Government’s payment system was suspended in September following revelations of mass looting of public funds in what has been known as the cash gate.
