Peoples’ Party (PP) is on its knees. It might fall anytime if the cancer that is eating it is not controlled anytime soon. However, it appears as if it cannot be controlled.
Reports coming in indicate that some executive members of the PP and ministers have started dumping the party on the grounds of not being satisfied with the primary elections of the party.
Late last week, deputy speaker of Parliament, Jones Chingola, announced that he had left the party and would stand on an independent ticket after being frustrated by the party.
Meanwhile, in the Southern region, the future of Henry Phoya in the party looks bleak as the minister of Lands and leader of the house had to pull out of the primaries re-run after being given a chase for his money by one Steve Mijiga.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the party’s Deputy Spokesperson, Ken Msonda, is as well on his way out of the party after suffering a defeat on the hands of Kamlepo Kalua. Msonda had cried foul over the results but Kalua has laughed them off and, it appears, the party has decided to stand along with Kalua’s claims and ignore Msonda, a situation that has forced Msonda to think of jumping out of the party.
