The High Court sitting in Lilongwe has this morning adjourned a bail hearing of former minister of justice and ex-attorney general Raphael Kasambara who was arrested earlier this week on money laundering charges.

However, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Bruno Kalemba, has indicated that he has no reasons for denying Kasambara’s bail application and will not put a struggle against it.

The DPP has, nevertheless, warned Kasambara to stop making comments in the media on the case.

Kasambara has been updating people on the events that have been happening as regards the case throughout the media, a decision that has irked some people as it has been considered that he is trying to buy public sympathy.

A former ally of President Banda, Kasambara is also being accused of masterminding the shooting of former budget director in the Ministry of Finance, Paul Mphwiyo, and the case is expected to start next week.
