The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has finally settled for until now the Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Malawi, Saulos Chilima, as running mate to the party’s torch bearer, Peter Mutharika in the 2014 elections.

Appearing this morning at the trade fair grounds in the commercial city of Blantyre, the DPP leader appeared with the youthful Chilima in arms to submit his nomination forms for the post of Presidency.

Mutharika is the first candidate to submit his papers in the process that is supposed to run from February 10 to the Valentine’s day, February 14.

In his speech, Mutharika thanked the electoral commission for the job they have done from the period of registering and he indicated that he was hoping that they would continue with their good job. Mutharika further indicated that he was ready and willing to accept defeat in the event of that happening and would support the winning candidate.

In the afternoon, United Independence Party’s leader, Hellen Singh, is expected to submit her papers for the same post of Presidency.
