Vice President Khumbo Kachali who has been sidelined by President Joyce Banda in her choice of running mate has disclosed that he will address the nation on his political career amidst rumors of him planning to ditch the ruling party but being blackmailed into staying in the party by government machinery over cases in the Cashgate scandal.
According to a Facebook post by the State Vice President, Kachali has thanked Malawians for the support they have rendered to him and especially people of his Mzimba South West constituency where he hails from and he is standing on a PP ticket.
In an immediate response to being dumped by JB, Kachali had said that the dumping had meant that there was a ‘vote of no confidence’ in him by the state President.
In his early days of the Vice Presidency, Kachali had been caught off-side by the populace on more than one occasion especially with his infamous act of stealing beds from a clinic at Mponela when he was minister of health and having to use them for campaign in his constituency for a PP candidate; later his mouth had uttered some unkind words on the populace and had just added insult on an injury. Not long ago, his name was as well mentioned in relation to the Cashgate scandal by Galaxy FM and he threatened them with legal action.
Meanwhile Kachali was absent at both the press conference held by President Banda to unveil her running mate and at the filing of nomination papers by Banda.
