Malawi President and the President of the Peoples’ Party (PP), Joyce Hilda Banda, has filed her nomination papers this morning for the May elections on the post of Presidency.

Banda, who was accompanied by her running mate, Sosten Gwengwe, arrived at the COMESA hall late and later attributed it to the congestion in the road due to support from her PP fraternity that had swarmed the road making it impassable.

Speaking to the Commissioners and her party followers, President Banda said that it is good that the transformative policies she had embarked on were working and said that it was the more of the reason that she thought it would be wise for Malawians to vote her into power.

President Banda indicated that there have been projected improvements in the economy and that Malawians should not sidetrack by voting in another person.

She then called on her supporters to join her at Njamba freedom park where she will be holding a rally.

Yesterday President Banda unveiled Sosten Gwengwe as her official running mate in the May polls and, thereby, sidelining her current Vice President, Khumbo Kachali.
