Mpatsa slams contestants’ lack of interest to meet business community.
Business captains feel the political parties and presidential aspirants have not been open enough to tell the business community their capabilities in turning around the country’s deteriorating operating environment.
One of the local entrepreneurs Jimmy Korea Mpatsa said recently that as the May tripartite elections drives closer and closer, it seems contestants are not willing to be interviewed by the business community on their interest to create conducive business environment.
When asked on what could be a role of business persons ahead of the 20th May polls, Mpatsa did recognize little or no.
“I could simply say, as a business person my role would be to cast my vote.
“I am saying so because the contestants have seemingly not prepared to grant interviews to business community to allow them find out who will put our well fare at hand and who is capable of doing that.” Mpatsa said.
Asked on whether he feels the elections can affect business performance, Mpatsa could not buy the thinking.
“Malawi depends on Agriculture, when it does extremely well of course on account of rainfall pattern, businesses thrives.
“I do not anticipate much impact from the polls other than that of rainfall pattern.
“Agriculture remains the back bone of the local economy and if rainfall pattern will remain positive, the country will do well in business and economic activities.” Mpatsa said.
