Hundreds of people have been rendered homeless in Karonga district following heavy wind storms that hit the area last night.

The winds which started with rains are said to have originated from the Tanzanian direction as the area is very close to the Songwe border.

Currently the victims are seeking refuge under trees in the area of Traditional Authority Kilikura, and the District commissioner, Rosemary Moyo is calling on well-wishers to assist with temporary shelter, household utensils and food.
