Dreams of Malawians to know who were involved in the plundering of resources at Capitol Hill dubbed cash gate have been shuttered as the office of Auditor General has openly said it will not publicize names of suspects in the forensic audit report.

Spokesperson for National Audit office, Thomas Chafunya told a local radio station.

He further said the Auditors will not appear before Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament as demanded.

“Officials from Baker Tilly already told us that it is not appropriate for names of suspects in the forensic audit report to be released to the public to avoid jeopardizing the on-going investigations.

“The official from Baker Tilly will also not meet PAC. Instead, the Auditor General will meet PAC members”, he said.

He further explained that his boss will present all the necessary details, minus the names as demanded by PAC.

Meanwhile it is not known if PAC will receive the news or not.
