Barely five days after Zodiak Broadcasting Station,(ZBS) successfully holding its final debate on presidential running mate of four major political parties at Comesa Hall in Blantyre, Federation for Disability Organization in Malawi, (Fedoma) has disclosed that it will on Wednesday evening hold a debate for four General Secretary(GS) for major political parties in the country at the same venue.
The debate will focus on the issues affecting people who are physically challenged and it will be held under the theme ‘Disability beyond 2014’.
“The main aim is to get to understand what political parties have in store for persons with disabilities. We have a Disability Act and other provisions such as Disability Fund that the incoming government should commit to fulfill”, said Fedoma acting Executive Director, Action Amos.
He further said Fedoma decided to come up with the debate to allow political parties to unveil their plans on the challenges people who are physical challenged face in regards to accessibility of physical infrastructure, access to services and information among others.
The grouping also said that,besides holding the debate it will also carry out a national wide voter civic education.
The parties that are going to participate in this debate include, United Democratic Front (UDF),Malawi Congress Party(MCP), the ruling People’s Party(PP) and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)
Meanwhile it is yet to be established if Peoples Party will attend the debate.
