People’s Party (PP) aspiring Member of Parliament for Neno South, Mutani Tambala is in cold war with the Chiefs and their subjects in the area over her decision not to distribute President Joyce Banda’s free maize meant for the area.
Tambala claim that the free Maize distribution in the area will disturb her campaign, hence, she is going to distribute it after May elections.
She told her campaign team and chiefs over the Weekend .
The decision of Tambala to hold the free Maize has angered the Chiefs and their subjects in the Constituency who are in desperate need of Maize as hunger is hitting them hard.
“The shadow MP called us for a pre-rally meeting which she had on Saturday at Luwani area where she told us that she is not going to distribute the Maize because the exercise may disturb her campaign. We are surprised with her move and we suspect something fishy”, he said.
The meeting was attended by Group Village Headman Malita and Village headmen Chapita, Felemu, Dzala and Kuphedi.
“We suspect she wants to give the Maize to people who work at her parents’ farm but we will not allow that to happen. The President is giving out the Maize not to benefit individuals but to poor people in the villages and it is unfair for her to divert it”, One of the Chiefs said.
President Banda is giving 193 bags to all its aspiring members of Parliament across the country.
Meanwhile Face of Malawi’s effort to talk to Tambala proved futile as his mobile phone number was not available.
