There has been a slight improvement on tobacco prices at the Limbe auction floors today.
The leaf is now starting from US$0.90 than the US$0.85 offered on Wednesday.
Contract tobacco producers have hailed the development as the prices at the contract sector are ranging from US$0.90 to US$1.80 with a few bales already sold at over US$2.00.
The development follows widespread condemnation of low prices by the tobacco growers yesterday that saw sales’ being suspended at the Limbe market a few hours after it was opened.
However the farmers are still calling for improved prices of at least US$1.50 on the sales.
