The High Court in Mzuzu has proved not guilty Peoples Party acting Secretary general Paul Maulidi and another official of electoral fraud allegations leveled against them.
Mvula dragged Maulidi and Denis Moyo to court in January, alleging that there was rigging at the primary elections at Mchengautuwa.
He claimed that non-party members and Children voted in the primaries.
But Judge Redson Kapindu has dismissed the case, saying Mvula failed to prove that there were substantial irregularities in the elections that would have led to nullification of the primaries and calling for a re-run.
He also said Mvula failed to utilize Internal remedial measures in the party before taking the matter to court.
“I hold the view that if the plaintiff had demonstrated that he had exhausted internal remedial measures and thus ensuring that the matter was ripe for judicial determination, this court would only have nullified the results of the People’s Party (PP) primary elections in Mchengautuwa West Ward in Mzuzu city and ordered a re-run”, reads the judgement.
Lawyer for the two, Christon Ghambi in an interview said politicians should learn to utilize party structures to solve problems other than rushing to court.
