Malawi Electoral Commission(MEC) has disclosed that the printing of Presidential Ballot papers which was scheduled to commence on April 20 will delay further.
According to MEC spokesperson, Sangwani Mwafulirwa, this is due to the resignation of Tisintha Alliance running mate Mr Silvester Chabuka few days ago.
Chabuka resigned because of what he called the Alliance failure to meet his expectation.
This is the first of its kind to happen in Malawi and section 52 of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections Act is silent on the matter.
Meanwhile MEC has referred the matter to the Attorney General’s office for clarification .
