The Malawi’s Vice President Khumbo Hasting Kachali who has been drop in the May tripartite election by the ruling People’s Party (PP) has downplayed rumours connecting him to Malawi Congress Party (MCP), saying it’s the price he has to pay for being a Vice president.

He said this in an interview with one of the daily papers in the country.

 “I always make decisions on my own and I don’t need to act on rumours. I don’t work on rumours. Should I be moved because somebody says this?.

“I don’t care about that. People will say whatever they want to say. It is a price I have to pay for being the vice-president. The truth will set me free one day”, said Kachali.

Kachali has however defended his loyalty to the ruling PP.

The rumours of Kachali joining MCP started just view days after President Joyce Banda picked Sosten Gwengwe as her running mate.
