Police in Eastern Region are hunting for unknown person who defrauded money amounting to K18.5 Million from Mudzi Transformation Trust’s account at Standard Bank in zomba.
This is one of the President Joyce Banda’s project aiming at uplifting lives of Malawians
According to regional police spokesperson Thomeck Nyaude who confirmed of the development said the fraud happened few weeks ago.
“We got a report about the theft. We are investigating the matter by looking at the sequence of the bank withdrawals, among other ways”, said Nyaude.
According to the police, fake cheques were used to defraud the money from the account.
President Banda launched five-year project in 2013 at Nthoso Village, Traditional Authority (TA) Khongoni in Lilongwe.
