As the election day draws near, the ruling People’s Party (PP) on Monday invaded Lilongwe with whistle stop tour asking Malawians to vote for the Party.
The President visited Area 44, Kauma, Area 25, Mtsiliza, Chinsapo, Area 1, Area 36 and Area 24.
In her speech, President Joyce Banda did not forget to remind Malawians of what she found after taking the rain of power from the late Professor Bingu Wa Mutharika.
“When I took over power on 7 April, 2012, the country was going down. There was an acute shortage of foreign exchange (Forex) and fuel problems.
“However, my administration has managed to improve the situation and the results are everywhere. We have adequate fuel and the forex import cover has jumped from one week when I took over to one and half months”, she said.
She further promised the people who gathered at Lilongwe Old Town a new market once voted into power on May 20.
President Banda was accompanied by her running mate Sosten Gwengwe and other notable figures from the party.
