Barely a day after President Joyce Banda directed the Police to take into task anyone involved in the shooting of a Charcoal seller at Chitakale tea estate in Mulanje, Malawi Police Services on Monday asked management of the estate to surrender its firearms to police.

Police confirmed of the development.

The law enforcers demanded Mulli officials to surrender all fire arms – though licensed- for an audit count on the legal guns possessed by the company.

The officials were also questioned on the shooting of a Charcoal seller identified by the police as Nangwale from Tchaluwa who was being accused of trespassing.

Leston Mulli who belong to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) got the contract to own,develop  and  provide Eco-tourism in  Mulanje mountain in 2008 during the rain of Dr Bingu wa Mutharika for a period of 10 years.

Since the award of the contract, villagers surrounding the estates have complained of being ill-treated.
