Joseph Tomasi 21, is in police custody in Ntchisi for allegedly defiling  his eight year old step daughter.

Ntchisi police Public relations officer Sergeant Gladson M’bumpha confirmed of the incident in an interview.

According to the police, it is alleged that the suspect defiled the girl after her mother left for a funeral in the nearby Village on May 2.

“The suspect called the victim to sleep in the main house, as there was funeral within the village where the victim’s mother slept. The suspect then took advantage of this and defiled the girl”, he said.

This was later discovered by her mother after coming back to funeral and took the victim to Malomo hospital where results showed that indeed the girl was defiled.

Tomasi hails from Kawerenga Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mphonde in Nkhotakota.
