Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Presidential torchbearer Dr Lazarus Chakwera has condemned the culture of hand-outs, saying no country in the World has ever developed through hand-outs.
Chakwera said this in Mzuzu during the campaign rally ahead of May 20 elections over the weekend.
“Malawians need to be empowered to get things for themselves. We are tired of hearing that Malawi is doing fine. That is on paper because the reality is that we have myriad problems. No jobs, our business environment not conducive and our education system is on the verge of collapse,” he said.
The MCP President also said it is shameful to see Malawi after 50 years of independence it is still ranked among the poorest nation on the globe.
He then urged people in the region to vote for the party in the forthcoming tripartite election to experience the change.
