Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has described Yohane Mwalera Dick as a courageous soldier who was always ready to take up the risk at the expense of Malawian.

Yohane  Mwalera ,48 died in the course of duty in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The MDF soldier, who was a mechanical by professional, died after being hit in the head by a winch notch handle which is metal bar.

Malawi soldiers are part of a UN Force intervention brigade put together by SADC to deal with rebel groups that have been terrorizing civilians in DRC.

Dick hails from Kalitsiro Village , Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu District. He was born on 6 November, 1966 and joined Malawi Defence Force in October, 1990. He is survived by a wife and six children.

The remains of Mwalera will jet in over the Weekend.
