The campaign has been closed and the day of election is drawing near.
In the meantime, one of the leading contenders for the Presidential race, Lazarus Chakwera, and his Malawi Congress Party (MCP) might probably be caught in a deficit of about a million votes as they enter into the electoral race.
The Malawi Congress Party has no parliamentary candidates in 28 constituencies including that of Vice President Khumbo Kachali and that of popular musician, Lucius Banda. The total number of registered voters in the constituencies where the party has no representative amounts to 920, 014.
This has been argued by others that it places the party at a disadvantage especially on the Presidential race at which the competition appears to be stiff and the MCP leader needed to poach votes from all areas of the country.
