Angry mob in Ndirande have burnt to ashes, ballot boxes at Namwalimwe center this morning as they felt authorities lacked seriousness to rectify other challenges that were delaying the commencement of the actual voting in various centers in the township.
This is one of the many centers where violence erupted in Blantyre city following the mismatching of voter information or serial numbers.
After waiting for hours before the center opens, the communities lost hope at around 10 am, a situation that resulted in a commission.
The angry mob stormed the rooms where the voting equipment’s were stored, eventually setting them a blaze.
Other areas registering violence were, Mkolokoti, CI, other centers in Ndirande and Area 23 in Lilongwe.
Meanwhile, MEC Chirperson Maxon Mbendera said his institution prioritized centers from longer distances before those lying nearby and has since promised to rectify the problems.
