Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Presidential torchbearer Peter Mutharika has called upon Malawians across the country to remain calm as Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) tries to rectify challenges haunting the voting process.
He said this after casting his ballot in Thyolo Goliati.
Mutharika joins other four Presidential hot contenders which include; Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Presidential torchbearer Dr Lazarus Chakwera, United Democratic Front (UDF) Atupele Muluzi, People’s Party (PP) President Dr Joyce Banda.
He also expressed worries over the delay in opening of some centres and continued irregularities of missing names.
The tripartite election currently under way is one of the crucial election since Malawi gained its independence in 1964 as Malawians are having a chance to vote for President, Member of Parliament and Ward Councillors at the same time.
Meanwhile MEC chairperson Maxon Mbendera has assured Malawians that the body is working on the anomalies.
