Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has apologized to the Malawi nation over the delay in opening some poling centres in the Central and southern region.
MEC chairperson Maxon Mbendera made the remarks at Camesa Hall which is the tally Centre where official results will be announced.
The delay in opening some poling centres has heavily affected the southern region especially Blantrye.
In his speech, Mbendera said: “On behalf of MEC I apologize to Malawians for the delay in opening some poling centres very late, this is due to logistical problems”.
“We started delivering materials from faraway places before starting places around Blantyre, this has affected our operations”.
Meanwhile Mbendera has pledged an additional time to those centre that were opened very late.
