As vote counting enters in the third day since the first ever tripartite election was held, unofficial results  from 19 district shows that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under the leadership of Peter Mutharika is narrowly leading followed Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

According to the results sourced from Zodiak Broadcasting Station which is the official broadcaster of the tripartite election, Mutharika is currently leading with 1,128 527 seconded by Dr Lazarus Chakwera of MCP with 1,117 120 and the ruling People’s Party is on third position with 721,150.

The two Presidential Candidates are being separated by 11,407.

The results are from the following district; Balaka, Likoma, Zomba,Chiradzulu, Mwanza, Neno, Thyolo, Ntcheu, Nsanje, Phalombe, Kasungu, Ntchisi, Dowa, Lilongwe Rural, Dedza, Salima, Karonga, Nkhatabay and Chitipa.

The country is having 29 district.

Meanwhile it is not yet known as to when MEC will announce the official results.
