Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has disclosed that the number of centres having high number of voters than those who registered has jumped from 58 to 65.

MEC Chairperson Maxon Mbendera disclosed this yesterday night during a press briefing held at national tally centre in Blantyre aiming at updating Malawians on the current electoral process.

In his speech, he said although this justifies for a recount as asked by some political parties, he said all powers lies in the hands of the court.

Mbendera also warned those people who are tampering with ballot papers to disturb the recount process, saying if they are caught they will not be spared.

Meanwhile the court is this morning sitting to make its ruling on the electoral standoff locking the election results.
