As political standoff continues to lock the release of the May 20 tripartite election, reports reaching Face of Malawi indicate that there is running battles in Mangochi between police and residence who are on the street demonstrating.

The residence are protesting against the just recent held tripartite election saying it has been rigged.

The protesters stoned the police station in the district causing police to retaliate and fire teargas which has led to six students from St Monica School collapsing and being rushed to Mangochi District Hospital.

Two policemen and a civilian have also been reported injured in the chaos and are receiving treatment.
