The 26th Malawi International Trade Fair is once again here, the chamber of commerce confirms that annual event will run between June 20th and 29th.
Under the theme; Productivity – a key to Exploiting Export Opportunities, the exhibition will be hosted at -Chichiri trade fair grounds.
Speaking in an interview, Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry –MCCCI’s Public Private Dialogue Manager Hope Chavula said the theme tries to emphasize the potential of manufacturing sector in transforming this economy –on top of agriculture.
“We are looking at how best we can utilize the available resources in developing this country and here we are looking at how best we can change the people’s altitude on the backbone of Malawi’s economy.
“We are of the view that –given the necessary environment, the manufacturing sector can thrive and surpass agricultural in its contribution to the country’s productivity- the Gross Domestic Product GDP.
“Therefore we would like to say it is important for the industry to increase the focus and emphasis on improving and increasing productivity.” Chavula said.
Chavula says the chamber has prepared at least 200 stands in readiness for exhibitors who are still confirming participation this time around.
Meanwhile, MCCCI has said during the ten days of exhibition, there will be business days where various organizations will be making special presentations.
