Economics Association of Malawi (ECAMA) President Nelson Mkandawire has said Malawians should brace for tough time a ahead of 2014-2015 Zero-aid budget the government is yet to table in Parliament.
Mkandawire was quoted saying this at one of the local media houses in the country (ZBS).
The development comes as all Development Partners to the country have not shown any commitment to provide monetary support due the scandal of plundering of public resources that happened during the era of Former President Dr. Joyce Banda which was revealed after the shooting of Former Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo.
In his speech, Mkandawire said the Zero-aid budget will see Malawians digging deep in their pocket to make the budget work
“Honestly this will be challenging to most Malawians as most of them live below poverty line”, he said.
The Zero-aid budget is not new to Malawians as it was also implemented during the late Professor Bingu Wa Mutharika’s regime a brother to the current President.
The budget saw huge taxes being implemented to solicit funds for the implementation of the budget and many Malawians cried.
