Police in Blantyre are searching for unknown thugs who allegedly shot dead a well known businessman Serafim Fernando Da Silva on Saturday.

Police have confirmed of the development in an interview.

Da Silva, 69, a Portuguese national, was shot  at the entrance of his office in Manja upon arrival
from the bank where he had withdrawn money amounting to K2 million to pay for his workers’ wages.

According to information sourced by Face of Malawi, about five armed men driving a Toyota Corolla BS 9292 reportedly shot the deceased in the presence of his wife and son and went away with K2 million.

Speaking in an Interview, Blantyre police spokesperson Elizabeth Divala said:  “Some well-wishers rushed him to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital,but it was too late to save his life”.

Da Silva was a heavyweight building contractor as well as an employee of Terrastone Construction Company.

Meanwhile no one has been arrested in connection with the murder of Da Silva.
