President Mutharika fires Attorney General and replaces with lawyer who defended him in 2012 treason case

Malawi President Peter Mutharika Tuesday fired Attorney General, Anthony Kamanga, and replaced him with renowned lawyer, Kalekeni Kaphale.
Kaphale was Mutharika’s lawyer in the treason case former government of Joyce Banda leveled against Mutharika in 2012.
Statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) released Tuesday said Kaphale’s appointment is with immediate effect.

The President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Arthur Peter Mutharika, In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 98(3) of the constitution of the Republic of Malawi has appointed Mr. Kalekeni Kaphale as Attorney General.
The appointment is with immediate effect
