Barely a week before unknown thugs invaded Catholic Secretariat in Lilongwe and went away with K2.4 million, Police in Lilongwe have arrested 13 hardcore criminals and in the process recovered a pistol in an operation carried out Friday night.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson Ramsey Nhlane confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the press.

In his speech, Nhlane described the arrest of the 13 criminals as a break through.

“The arrest of these criminals to us is a break through in our investigation due to the fact that we have recovered a pistol which if left could have been used in terrorizing people around the town”, said Nhlane.

In the operation which was conducted in Kawale area and Lumbazi Police station area, police have recovered mattress,pistol and other items.

The 13 criminals will appear in Court soon to answer different charges.

Meanwhile Police have assured People in Lilongwe and across the country of peace.
