Police in Blantyre have arrested Machinjiri Secondary School Headteacher Mr Justine Kabongo for allegedly being involved in exams cheating during the ongoing Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) Examination.
Mr Kabango was arrested on Monday this week.
Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) Public Relations Officer Mr Simeon Maganga confirmed of the arrest in an interview.
According to unconfirmed reports sourced by FaceofMalawi indicate that, Mr Kabango and some students at the school was caught opening examination papers without MANEB concert which is contrary to Section 14 (2a) of MANEB Act.
The arrest of Mr. Kabango has raised the number of teachers arrested in this year’s exam malpractice to three.
Meanwhile if found guilty of the offence, Mr Kabango will be sentenced to 10 years Imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL) and pay K300,000 cash.
