Despite former President Joyce Banda performing poorly on the May 20 tripartite election which saw the then Opposition Democratic Progressive Party under Professor Peter Mutharika imaging winner, Banda is still recognized as most influential women in Africa.

The latest recognition is, the invitation of Banda to attend this year’s Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit to be held in the United States of America in October.

Press officer to Banda, Tusekele Mwanyongo confirmed of the development to the Malawi News Agency.

Banda will be joined by Clinton Foundation Vice chairperson Chelsea Clinton, IMF managing director Christine Lagarde, Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg, Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer and Xerox CEO Ursula Burns.

The summit which will be held under the theme ‘New Connected Leadership.

The invent will also see Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Nollywood Actress Omotola Jelade Ekeinde who also made it in the 2013 Forbes Magazine top 100 influential women in the world.
