Reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicate that President Professor Author Peter Mutharika has appointed former Director General of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Bright Malopa, as chief advisor to the president on communication and strategy.

Presidential Press Secretary Fredrick Ndala asked for more time when asked to confirm of the appointment.

On his part, Malopa confirmed of the appointment by saying he was happy to be part of Mutharika’s team.

Malopa served as MBC Director General during the era of the late Professor Bingu Wa Mutharika, a brother to the current President and was later fired after former President Dr. Joyce Banda took the rain of office in 2012.

Mutharika’s appointment have sparked commotion among the general Public as others have rebelled it ‘as appeasement policy’ while others have said is based on regionalism.
