Barely a week after various stakeholders questioned President Professor Author Peter Mutharika over the appointments of many advisors, saying this is draining government resources and is a threat to the country’s economy.

FaceofMalawi has established that President Mutharika who is scheduled to leave the country for US first African Leaders Summit to be held in Washington DC, will be accompanied by 37 member delegation which will start from August 4-6.

USA President Barrack Obama has invited the Malawi leader to be part of the summit which will largely focus on trade and investment in Africa and highlight America’s commitment to Africa’s security, its democratic development and its people.

The development has angered some Opposition political who have said it is not fair for the country’s economy.

Commenting on the development , former ruling People’s Party (PP) Publicity Secretary Ken Nsonda said: “Is DPP going for the summit or its officials and the party leadership have gone on vacation/retreat after stealing our general elections votes? Why having all this huge member delegation for seven days when the summit is for one day”.

In separate interview with one of the local daily papers in the country , Minister of Information, Kondwani Nankhumwa said the figure making the trip might have been bloated due to the incorporation of members of the private sector.

Before is the full list of the 38 members delegation traveling to USA.
