Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on Friday fulfilled his pledge made to Tsaka Market fire victim when he donated K 1million Kwacha.
The fearless fire gutted the market on Tuesday night leaving over 350 Vendors hopeless as property worthy millions were destroyed.
Presenting the donation on behalf of Chakwera was Deputy National Organizing Secretary Eisenhower Mkaka who said MCP President made the donation due to his concern over the incident.
“Dr. Chakwera has donated K1 million to the victims of Tsoka Flea Market fire incident to help the get back on their feet”, he said.
FaceofMalawi effort to talk to Market’s Committee Chairman Mr. Ignacio Chiwaya proved futile as his he could not pick up his mobile phone.
Some of the Vendors found at Tsoka Market said the appreciate the gesture shown by MCP President but the money given is not enough for them.
Meanwhile President Professor Author Peter Mutharika instituted Ministerial Committee to look into the cause of the fire and if possible to come up with measures that will avoid another incident in future.
